





Four Week 1:1 Combo - Hand Building and Wheel
In this four week one on one course, Emily will teach you the ins and outs of how to make a pot on the wheel and guide you through different hand building techniques to create a sweet collection of pots made by you!
Who is this for:
Anyone with an interest in being creative with clay. No experience necessary but experience levels beginner to intermediate are welcome! Classes can be tailored to your skill level.
What’s included:
Use of clay, tools, underglazes and glazes
Guided 1:1 tuition
Four 2hour sessions once a week for four weeks
Four week break down:
Week 1 Introduction to throwing on the wheel
Learn to centre a ball of clay on the wheel
Learn to make small simple objects (bowls/cups)
Learn what tools are used for what
Week 2 Introduction to trimming thrown pots
Learn how to trim the bases of the pots you made in week 1
Learn what tools are best for what technique
Add decorative carved details (optional)
Week 3 Introduction to hand building
Learn the basic techniques of coiling, slab building and pinch pots
Create your own small hand built pots (vase/plate/cup/mug/object of choice)
Add decorative carved details (optional)
Week 4 Introduction to glazing and decorating
Learn the ins and outs of glazing
Learn about other decorating techniques such as use of underglaze
Decorate and glaze the pieces made in weeks 1 - 3
At the end of the four week course you will have a good understanding of the basic techniques and processes of making small objects from beginning to end on the wheel and by hand.
Pieces will be fired by Emily in her home studio after the completion of the course. You will be notified when your work is ready for collection (between 2-4 weeks from course completion).
Firing of work is not included in cost of course. Firing is determined by weight of finished work and calculated after the final firing.
Emily’s studio is located in Lilydale, Victoria, Australia. Once booked you will be sent further information regarding specific location.
