About
Emily Brookfield is a ceramic artist based in Lilydale, Victoria, Australia. Emily’s work is informed by material exploration and an investigation of object interaction to create a sense of place. Our innate need to attach meaning and sentimentality to objects continues to fascinate Emily and the connection of community through clay drives her practice. Her current focus is on constructing miniature chairs. Familiar objects in our everyday, reimagined.
Connection To Community
Emily started her journey in her a local studio at the end of 2016 as a creative outlet one day a week. She quickly left her 9 to 5 behind to volunteer her time at the studio where she developed and refined her skills and knowledge. She has since gone on to exhibit at various galleries in Australia, stocked pieces in the NGV Design Store and Craft Victoria and has completed two artist residencies in Japan. Emily has taught pottery classes since 2020 and is currently offering 1:1 wheel throwing and hand building lessons from her home studio alongside her personal practice and engages with the ceramics community through group exhibitions and other events.
